Braintree Elementary School sharing their new robot coding skills from the Innovate/Educate Award

Braintree Elementary School students were demonstrating how they were using the robots they recently acquired through the Vermont AOE/Lottery program. Orange SW SD was one of the winning proposals in 2021 of the Innovate/Educate Initiative. They used the award to create a K-6 robotics program directly embedded into the core curriculum of science and math at each of their three elementary schools. The award funded the purchase of robotic kits and supporting curriculum.

Braintree Elementary School students Oliver Jassen and Eli Messier complete a coding challenge to direct their robots through an obstacle course. The students are learning computer science concepts and skills through the newly established Orange Southwest SD robotics program. Robots and related curriculum are being introduced at Braintree, Brookfield and Randolph elementary schools as part of the district's STEM programs thanks to an Innovate/Educate Award from the Vermont Lottery and AOE.

Braintree Elementary School students Beckett Jassen,  Wendell Gershon, Brooke Lester, and Briella Haupt test their coding work as part of a recent robotic demonstration.
